KecsUP's third im/pro/kontra Debate Theatre Evening took place on Thursday evening at Bistro Mokambo, where participants could debate public safety in Kecskemét, the role of state healthcare and the impact of political correctness on free expression.
The aim of the debate theatre evening, which was organized for the third time, is for interested parties to clash arguments and counterarguments on current, public interest, unspoken topics. As an introduction to the topics, we saw a theatrical scene with the participation of the Vastaps Company.
What is debate theatre?
Debate theatre is an interactive theatrical board game. Its aim is to create an opportunity for participants to debate the most serious social issues with each other and with invited experts in a cultured and moderated manner.
Public safety, healthcare and PC
The first topic of our third debate theatre evening was public safety in Kecskemét, as several events have recently occurred that have given this area a strong focus for the people living here. Our statement, which the participants could agree with or debate, was: I feel safe and my values are safe at Kecskemét city events.
We recently reported that the number of unfilled adult general practitioner practices in Kecskemét has increased to six, and that from January 1, 2025, there will be no outpatient clinics at the Honvéd Hospital. Our second statement was related to this, which was: I make up for the shortcomings of the state healthcare system by using private medical care.
With our third statement, we would like to reflect on a social phenomenon that appears in comment sections, on social media, during everyday business, when watching series, or when telling a joke. That is why we made the statement: Political correctness (PC) hinders free expression.
Watch the video from the evening and come to the next debate theater, which we will hold in June!
